Two Tribes Is Back With 2D 360 Degree Shooter RIVE

Two Tribes is coming back with an unexpected game at 2014’s Gamescom, RIVE. The 2D platformer boasts 360 degree shooting fun along with ability to alter or hack the behavior of enemy robots.

Sounds like they are taking a bit of the old and a bit of the and mashing it together to form RIVE. There’s not a lot of gameplay in the trailer but what we can see looks delightfully colorful and I really want to see just how crazy you can get with the enemy robot hacking.

I can’t remember the last time I played a really good 360 degree shooter before, the last one that really comes to mind is Crack Dot Com’s Abuse from 1996! We won’t have to wait long to see how RIVE stacks up as Two Tribes is looking to have you shooting and hacking the shit out of everything on both PC and consoles, no word on which, come early 2015.

PRESS RELEASE

Two Tribes Announces RIVE for PC and Consoles!

Announcing a new game is always a major event, but since it’s the first game since the Two Tribes reboot, this one is extra special for us. We’ve been working feverishly with our new base team of just three people to be able to announce RIVE to the world.

So what did we make!? We call it RIVE and we describe it as ‘the metal wrecking, robot hacking shooter’. It’s a 2D shooter / platformer with old school gaming values in a decidedly new school execution. During the game’s intense 360 degree shooting and platforming action, players learn to alter the behavior of their robotic enemies by collecting and uploading hacks.

Please check out the announcement trailer below to get an idea of what we have created. RIVE will be playable for the public at Gamescom next month!
