Indivisible, Action/RPG On Indiegogo From Skullgirls Creator Lab Zero, Check It Out

Lab Zero has been spreading a ton of goodwill around the video game universe, their first successful Indiegogo campaign for Skullgirls had a rocky road. Even with a bunch of factors out of their control they persevered and continued to make the best game they could to not only please themselves but the fans as well. Lab Zero even went so far as to help out the fighting game community as a whole with a bad ass PlayStation 4 joystick driver. Now Lab Zero is back with a brand new crowdfunding campaign with Indivisible. Considering their past track record I would say they are one of the few developers you can trust. Already they lay out the details where most projects would not, the initial goal of $1,500,000 is only half of the budget for the game, 505 Games is going to kick in an another $2,000,000 making the total budget for Indivisible $3,500,000. Lab Zero also notes that this allows them to complete their entire vision for Indivisible so any stretch goals will not add to the core game and will be added as post-release updates.

Are you still concerned about what Indivisible will be, how it will play, do you even want to back this? Good because Lab Zero has released a playable prototype for the game for you to check out right now on their website here. The art style of Indivisible really won me over right from the get go, it’s clean, well animated and looks like a high production cartoon. It also has just a hint of that Skullgirls weirdness showing through in some of the enemies which I love. The sidescrolling looks exactly how I would want a modern day Prince of Persia to look, fluid, 2.5D with the camera moving slightly to keep everything in view. The battle system is shown off a bit in the video above but I don’t have a good grasp on exactly what it is going for. Thankfully there’s that playable prototype to get a feel for what Lab Zero is going for and their Indiegogo page mentions that each face button maps to a character in your party, essentially making your party a single customization fighting game character, sounds like a cool way to do RPG battle without going 100% turn-based. As of right now they are at $177K of their $1.5M goal with 37 days left so head on over and check them out.

PRESS RELEASE

INDIVISIBLE PROTOTYPE NOW AVAILABLE FOR PC DOWNLOAD

Fully playable prototype launches in conjunction with Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign

On the heels of August’s groundbreaking announcement that 505 Games and Lab Zero, developers of the fan-favorite Skull Girls fighting game, would collaborate on a community-backed development deal, Lab Zero Games today has launched the prototype for their new action/RPG game, Indivisible! The free PC download showcases the game’s unique art style and fusion of platforming and RPG gameplay, giving players a small but representative taste of the epic Lab Zero is creating.

The prototype was funded by 505 Games, and Lab Zero is using the prototype as a proof of concept to raise funds to continue development for Indivisible. Using Indiegogo, Lab Zero seeks to raise $1,500,000 and should they reach their funding goal, 505 Games will match the rest of the development budget needed to complete the game.

Indivisible is a new RPG IP, starring Ajna (AHZH-na), a girl who sets out on a globe-spanning journey to discover the truth behind her mysterious powers. On her quest, she is joined by a variety of unique heroes and gains new abilities to traverse the environments and defeat the enemies they encounter along the way. Built with the unique characters and gameplay depth Lab Zero is known for, Indivisible takes a fresh spin on action/RPG gameplay, featuring a deep storyline inspired by Southeast Asian and other world mythologies. Lab Zero’s trademark feature-quality 2D hand-drawn animation and a lush soundtrack from legendary Secret of Mana composer Hiroki Kikuta further enrich and enhance the game.
