I love it when you hear about an awesome throwback project and when you learn that Candlelight Studios is the one man team of Joshua Temblett it makes me that much more excited. His game Untold Story is a homage to all those great NES-RPG’s you loved either back in the day or whenever in your life you discovered them. Not just content on some pixel-art style Untold Story looks like it keeps with the graphical limitations from the 8-bit era. Joshua even goes on to say he is a “big believer in limitations breading creativity” and I tend to agree.
Right now all we have is this teaser trailer and a few screenshots below for you to drool over but they look crisp, almost like they were ripped straight out of a GamePro back issue. The game is set for a PC release however this is no word on distribution platform or price but Candlelight Studios is shooting for an Early Spring release. I can’t wait to see some more footage as the game progresses along.

NES-style RPG, Untold Story, Announced
Announcement + teaser trailer inside!
LONDON, February 4th, 2015 – Candlelight Studios is proud to announce Untold Story, a NES-style, turn-based, RPG with a modern twist. Made by a single developer, Untold Story hopes to bring back the magic that NES RPGs had whilst also containing plenty of modern touches, such as a character-based story-telling and a unique and exciting battle system.
Untold Story is currently in development and aims to release within the first half of the year. Interested gamers can visit the game’s mini-site for developer blogs (which are updated weekly on Thursday).
