Space Engineers (PC) Being A Space Construction Worker Never Looked So Good

Space Engineers takes all that sciency stuff you learned in school and shows you your teachers were right, science can be fun! Once you’re an engineer in space you can do anything, build and repair a giant space station, add a room, or two or a nuclear reactor or just be a giant cosmic asshat and ram your friends with a giant ship you secretly built.

In the alpha footage of Space Engineers below you can already see what kind of colossal space stuff you can built and how during multiplayer more than likely someone will try to ruin your day. But that’s ok because there’s tons of stuff to do from building the ships, to actually piloting them, mining asteroids for minerals and just building giant space stations which we hope you can mount laser cannons on.

Space Engineers uses a volumetric-based physics engine so anything can be built or destroyed. See that space station, take it apart piece by piece, have a hull breach, strap on your space suit and take a walk outside to repair the damage. The team over at Keen Software really have something special here and I can’t wait to check it out once it hits steam early access soon. Be sure to head past the jump and see how great it already looks in the alpha footage gameplay trailer below.

PRESS RELEASE

Space Engineers – a new sandbox game from Keen Software House

Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and maintenance of space works.

Keen Software House unveils “Space Engineers”, the company’s new sandbox title!

Prague, Czech Republic, September 9th 2013

Independent game development studio Keen Software House, today announced Space Engineers, the company’s second title.

Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and maintenance of space works. Players build space ships and space stations of various sizes and utilization (civil and military), pilot ships and perform asteroid mining.

Space Engineers utilizes a realistic volumetric-based physics engine: all objects can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed.

Space Engineers is inspired by reality and by how things work. Think about modern-day NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and doesn’t use technologies that wouldn’t be feasible in the near future.
