Strike Suit Zero (PC) Brings In Oculus Rift, Not Responsible For Laser Beams In Your Eyes!

Strike Suit Zero, the aweseome space combat game, has finally let you be the last starfighter as anyone with their own Oculus Rift dev kit and Steam version of Strike Suit Zero can now get their eyeballs that much more in-game.

While you may have persiously seen the footage of the game running in third person that is now but one option. You can now run in full first person mode with a full 3D cockpit to literally but you in the ship. Basically this is what we have wanted since Wing Commander and it’s finally here!

Born Ready Games defiantly had their work cut out for them as they didn’t reuse assets and slap this all together with duct tape. The whole Oculus Rift experience in Strike Suit Zero has been built from the ground up to fully immerse the play in the experience. The 3D cockpit now has a brand new UI and HUD specifically for Oculus Rift players.

Since this still is a beta update players should expect that there can be some bugs to work out. However the only thing needed to get the update is to connect your Oculus Rift to your computer and boot up the Steam version of the game and you’ll automatically be updated, pretty cool. If you encounter any bugs or have some suggestions to make playing Strike Suit Zero with the Oculus Rift better be sure to drop the guys a line at their beta forum here. If you want to know more about what went into developing the version of the game or just love seeing behind the scenes gamedev footage be sure to check out the developer video past the jump.

Space was always going to be a perfect fit for Oculus, and we’re excited to bring the world of Strike Suit Zero to life with the Oculus Rift.” said James Brooksby, Born Ready Games CEO. “Perhaps the biggest task for us was adapting the UI and HUD for this new version of the game – relaying all the relevant information to the player without breaking the immersion.”

Born Ready Games addresses this and other aspects of developing for Oculus in its latest developer insight video.

Anybody with an Oculus Rift dev kit can simply boot up the game with the Oculus connected to play the new version of the game.
