PRESS RELEASE

GRIMOIRE ASSEMBLY FORGE UNVEILS DUDEBROTM II GAMEPLAY

SAN FRANCISCO (Oct 15, 2012) — Grimoire Assembly Forge is proud to introduce the long-awaited gameplay debut for their much anticipated title, Dudebro™ — My Shit Is Fucked Up So I Got to Shoot/Slice You II: It’s Straight-Up Dawg Time, in a trailer filled to the brim with action, explosions and “visceral cinematic sensibilities”.
For quite some time, Grimoire Assembly Forge has been busy creating a one-of-a-kind game, entirely thanks to volunteer work from members spread out across the globe. This peculiar structure, though, came with a fair share of problems to overcome.

“Over time, our turnover rate eventually got outpaced by the many dropouts, which left us understaffed and caused multiple delays. We knew we had to take action to ensure the game could be completed by a much smaller team without compromising its quality,” — Andrea Nicolò, Creative Director

About halfway through 2011, the decision was made to turn the game into a 2D sidescroller, blending together elements from old school run-and-gun shooters and action platformers in a face-melting, 60 fps shooting-slash-slicing experience enriched by exploration and crazy weaponry. Dudebro™ II reborn complements its retro aesthetic with modern features such as a full blown physics engine, powered by Farseer™ Physics, and shader effects.

“Working on a game that we are excited to play means we’ve made more progress in the past year than we ever did. I hope everyone enjoys what they see in the first gameplay trailer being released today, as well as the game’s music.” — Gavin Quinn, Music

“The switch to XNA and working with a revamped team has been a great experience. It has allowed me to learn more and demand more of myself in my efforts to deliver a great audio experience that will fully complement the visuals and gameplay.” — Rob de Doelder, SFX/Music

“Dudebro II’s development is one of the most interesting things I’ve had the pleasure being a part of and I couldn’t be happier with this new direction. Everyone on the team is dedicated to making this an unforgettable game, and so far we are right on track to do exactly that!” — Sil Demmer, Producer/Marketing

“This change has been for the better on both a development side and an interest side. In general, the team has been very receptive to the change in direction, with development becoming more manageable being only one of the benefits.” — David Kreinberg, Writing

“Using XNA allowed us to adopt a very efficient iteration-based development cycle, as individual systems can be worked on independently. In addition, we were able to take advantage of some very powerful middleware libraries. All in all, I am amazed at what we achieved!” — Nicolas Jaccard, Coding
