Ridge Racer Driftopia Burns Free To Play Rubber On PC And PS3

Ridge Racer Driftopia Burns Free To Play Rubber On PC And PS3

Ridge Racer Driftopia is launching the historic driving series into free to play territory. There’s not much known at this point, a release date is set for later in 2013 though no hard date is given. The game is interestingly slated for PC and PlayStation 3 however. We know PC is the domain of massive free to play series but surprisingly things are starting to heat up on Sony’s platform as well.

There are a couple things we can gleam from the trailer Namco is showing off to us today. Obviously Ridge Racer Driftopia is all about turns, curves and massive speed boosts. There’s also some destruction but right now it looks only like standard billboards and other track accessories. The amount of cars looks staggering and each car boasts top speed, acceleration, boost power and strength meters.

One thing that’s sure to irk the racing crowd is the little repair icon shown on each car along with the repair kits option on the store. Namco Bandai would be wise to look at at Real Racing 3 and take a few notes in that area. All in all it looks good and if handled right it could be another fun addition to the growing free to play roster.
